Thomas Sowell, an American economist, said that nobody ever stays poor if they are honest, make the right decisions, and are ready to sacrifice a few things in their journey. They can pull themselves out of poverty. But that’s easier said than done.
We are a product of our choices. Decisions are bricks that can be laid down either to build a ladder or weaken the foundation if you are not attentive. Whether we like it or not, we live in a capitalistic world, and nothing is handed to us. We have to work our butts off to get the things we want. That’s life, in general.
Even if you start low, you have possibilities to be better off in the future if you make solid decisions now. Of course, it is hard to be a millionaire, but at least you can have a house and family if you choose a better income stream. At every level, you get to enjoy a lot more options and freedom to be yourself.
The Wealth Ladder by Nick Maggiulli is an amazing read. Rather than telling you what you should do, he helps us figure it out ourselves. In other words, he helps us develop a deep financial mindset. He lays out the wealth ladder and how you can climb it. I loved his previous work, Just Keep Buying. I loved this too. I highly recommend it.
