Open When by Dr Julie Smith

Reviewed Date: January 6th, 2025

There is something comforting about Dr. Julie Smith’s books. It feels like a friend talking with you, easing our nerves and helping you better cope with difficult situations. I am a huge fan of her previous work, Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? I cannot emphasize how much it helped me at that point in time. I keep on revisiting the book once in a while.

Coming to this book, Open When is sensible and useful advice for sensitive and difficult circumstances. Writing is soothing, and her insights validate our feelings and emotions. You are probably aware of some advice in the book; we need a push occasionally to do what is appropriate and correct. In that aspect, the book is effective.

I will definitely go back to this book. Sometimes you really know what you have to do but, maybe consumed by your thoughts, hesitate or procrastinate; you need an external hand to guide you. This book is that external hand, effective and impactful.
