Burnout is a relatively new thing for humans. Never in the history of humankind have we humans experienced that. Of course, back then, we fought hard to avoid starvation and other deadly situations. But burnout is not one of them. We had less work and ample time to finish tasks that were on our plate.
Our life sucks. There is so much work to do. As if it isn’t enough, society in a way makes us feel that if we stop saying no to things, we fall behind in life. Buying the illusion, we force ourselves to work, sometimes even on weekends. But there is a cost we need to pay.
Burnout drains our energies and makes us experience psychological distress. Although society pushes us to hustle, consequences of burnout cannot be avoided. Lack of sleep, frustration, stress, lack of motivation, and so on. Until and unless we experience burnout, we don’t prioritize our health.
The Cure For Burnout exceeded my expectations. I went in with few to no expectations, as I had read a few books on this topic, but this book offers something new, identifying what causes burnout and how to solve it without changing the work you do. It’s a solid read and has practical advice. I highly recommend the book.
