Hidden Potential by Adam Grant

We usually think that character and personality are the same thing. In the book The Laws of Human Nature by Robert Greene, the author says that character is something deeply ingrained in us, while personality is just outer appearance. Adam Grant, more or less, has the same standing. But he emphasizes more character.

Our character has a set of principles that we live by. In hard times, our character is tested. If it is strong and flexible, we can withstand anything. But character also brings out hidden potential. With a strong character, embracing discomfort, and constantly improving ourselves, we can tap into our hidden potential and do our best work.

I must say that I was disappointed by Originals by Adam Grant, which is hardly original at all. With that experience, I wasn’t expecting much from this book. Although I felt that this is Adam’s most personal work, the book didn’t surprise me. With his books, you are truly practicing the Pareto principle, 80/20. If you are a fan of him, you can go for it.
