Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig

Depression is more prevalent in society than ever before. It is as if the world is crushing us down by extreme force. As much as we remind ourselves that we shouldn’t compare with others or that pain won’t last long, at the end of the day we are humans, and a few things get to us.

Reasons to Stay Alive is a comforting book and assures us despite hardships, life can be beautiful if we hang on for a little while. I wanted it to have more depth, but it works anyway. The chapters are small, probably to make it beginner-friendly.

One thing that really frustrates me is when someone is going through depressive episodes, people say, “There is so much life; don’t be depressive.” It is like saying to asthma patients, “Why can’t you breathe? There is so much air.”

I recommend this to everyone. It could lift your mood.
