Imagine that the government is tracking your every activity without informing you or taking your consent, whether they are phone conversations, going to restaurants, text messages, your online presence, ATM withdrawals, every email you sent and received, etc. Sounds scary, right?
But some people say it doesn’t matter to them, as they have nothing secretive going on in their lives. What if the data that is collected is used for wrong activities, like naming you as a drug cartel leader because they have to cross a case and a lot of your information is already in their hands?
Internet comes with a cost. Google and other giants constantly track data, your preferences, and your likings. When you search for something in Google and close the tab, you leave an invisible fingerprint. More often than that, you don’t see the authenticity of a website; you simply give away your credentials. You have no idea where and how your credentials will be used.
Permanent Record is an autobiography of the whistleblower, Edward Snowden. He is the person who leaked the information that the government had been tracking without their consent. An eye-opening book that warns that we should be protective of our information and concerned about our rights.
