Meditations by Marcus Aurelius

It’s surprising to see how the ramblings of the Greek emperor still have value to this day. Marcus Aurelius had a habit of writing notes for improving himself. But he didn’t know how much wisdom was present in those notes.

Unless one observes reality with his or her naked eyes, he/she could not write such valuable notes. Truth must be told; they are not only helpful to those who write but also to people of the current generation and people of coming generations.

Here are my quotes of Marcus Aurelius:

  1. You have power over your mind—not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.
  2. The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.
  3. Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
  4. Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.
  5. When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, and to love.
