It’s surprising to see how the ramblings of the Greek emperor still have value to this day. Marcus Aurelius had a habit of writing notes for improving himself. But he didn’t know how much wisdom was present in those notes.
Unless one observes reality with his or her naked eyes, he/she could not write such valuable notes. Truth must be told; they are not only helpful to those who write but also to people of the current generation and people of coming generations.
Here are my quotes of Marcus Aurelius:
- You have power over your mind—not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.
- The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.
- Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
- Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.
- When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, and to love.
