This is the second self-help book I read in my reading journey. As I had finished my diploma in mechanical engineering, I was looking for ways to improve myself. To tell the truth, this book helped me to instill discipline in my life.
Before reviewing the book, I want to talk about a famous writing technique that many authors use. In this technique, the author tells an elaborate story according to the notion he/she wants to convey to readers. And, later, the author draws insights and conclusions. This style of writing can be seen more in Robert Greene’s books.
Coming to this book, Robin Sharma followed this technique but pushed it a little bit. Rather than revealing the contents early, Robin told the story, about a lawyer named Julian who had happened to travel the Himalayas in search of restoring the balance missing in his life, for almost 1/4th of the book.
I can see why this book is a best-seller. Robin has written in a way that anyone can understand and implement the techniques that were discussed in the chapters.
Though there are several virtues that the author has talked about, like mastering your mind, following the purpose, and respecting your time, I like the virtue of living with discipline. It was after instilling the discipline that I began to read more books than usual.
I recommend this book to beginners. They can find value in it. If you are an expert reader, you can skip this book, as you might have read the concepts in other books.
