Adventures of a Young Naturalist by David Attenborough

Reviewed Date: August 21st, 2020

šŸ“When I was a child, after coming home from school, I used to watch the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet for hours. I was fascinated to see all different kinds of animals and birds. On holidays, I used to go to the nearest forest and immerse myself in the world of nature. I love listening to bird songs and relished seeing wild boars and pythons. Currently, I am missing that.

šŸ“Coming to the book, David Attenborough had sent on expeditions for collecting animals for London Zoo. He filmed the expeditions to broadcast them on the BBC. The book is divided into three chapters. Each chapter is devoted to an expedition to a country. First chapter, expedition to Guyana; second, Indonesia; and third, Paraguay.

šŸ“It is one of those rare books where you are deeply hooked to it right from the beginning. I loved every paragraph of this book. He elucidated his experiences so vividly and lively that I imagined myself in his place. After reading it, I felt I should have something like this in my life (not collecting animals, by the way).

šŸ“I definitely recommend reading it if you love nature and traveling.
