The Problem with Being a Person by Talia Pollock

We humans like to delude ourselves with all kinds of beliefs and ideas. Rather than facing reality as it is and accepting and acknowledging our lives as they are, we form illusions around ourselves to seek comfort and avoid seeing the truth.

The law of attraction and manifestation beliefs come out of our desperation to see growth in no time. They fuel our consumerism and propel us to be more materialistic. Think of what you usually ask and believe to get in your life. Irony reveals itself.

The truth is that there is no inherent meaning or purpose to our lives. We are born, and we have to do something. Meaning has to be ascribed; purpose has to be formed. Living simply by chasing happiness is a trap that you can never escape.

The Problem with Being a Person is an honest and sarcastic read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It aligns with my personal philosophy and ideology. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for something new or a fresh take on popular notions.
