Seducing or manipulating people is deemed immoral. When we feel someone is cunning, we tend to distance ourselves from him/her, and also, we are a little careful in their presence to prevent ourselves from being deceived. But whether we accept it or not, we do manipulate in subtle ways to get what we want.
The Art of Seduction is a collection of ideas, techniques, and insights on how seduction works but is told through stories of history. On the surface, it might seem like a book on how to manipulate people. The author’s intention is different.
We are not living in an ideal world where every human has good intentions and motives toward us. We shouldn’t be naive and let people take advantage of us. We have to understand their motives and what they want from us. Once we fall into the trap, it’s hard to get out.
I will not say the contents of this book are accurate and applicable in real life. I felt some were superficial and fiction. But it is interesting to know how it works. The best weapon in our arsenal against getting manipulated is understanding people’s motives and observing them at a distance.
