I had reviewed this book a few months ago. I was extremely honest and trashed the contents of the book by saying, ‘stating the obvious and offering nothing new.’
Recently I read my review and felt I had beaten the snake too harshly. I decided to give it another read. But this time from a beginner’s perspective.
As they say, it is impossible to unlearn an experience that you already experienced. I found it is a difficult task to reread a book with a different perspective. Because you knew what the contents were and what lay ahead. But somehow I made it to the end.
I can see why this book sold half a million copies. It is easy to read, and the concepts are comprehensible. If you have read a few books on finance, you don’t enjoy it as much as a beginner does.
If you are a beginner and haven’t received any financial pieces of advice, this book is written for you. You will get to know why you need to save, the power of compounding, the problem of desiring more, differences in wealth, and much more.
As a person who has done a BBA, I had learned several concepts before picking up this book. That could be the reason why I hated this book on my first read.
I recommend this to beginners and to people who haven’t read any finance books.
